Wild in the City

Took a break and headed to the wild…15 minutes away from my house. Lion Park, situated about 20 minutes from Sandton City, Johannesburg, will give you that safari experience without a need for a 4×4. We did a self-drive which gives you access to Cub World, where you can interact with cute lion cubs, baby giraffes, and a drive around the farm to see various animals.

They might look cute but they have wild instincts. Be firm when touching them and stay sharp, these are wild animals.

Giraffes, officially my favorite wild animal; they are so gentle. Look at that neck!

Lions are born with spots for camouflage purposes, the spots fade with time. I didn’t know that!

Driving around the farm in your car you will encounter impalas, springboks, zebras, wildebeests, ostrich, and more giraffes.

The Lion Park offers other experiences with animals, there’s walking with cheetahs for the brave. Cuddling lion cubs was more than enough for me.
