Heritage/braai day, came and went, and left a staggering headache as we try to fit a five-day week in three days, assuming that you were also lucky enough to be able to take Monday off. The good news is that the day after tomorrow is Friday, so you only have one more day to suffer through before the weekend. A suggestion to usher you into the weekend comfortably – head to the Maboneng Precinct in Johannesburg CBD. You’ll have plenty of options when it comes restaurants. You can use this as an excuse to celebrate what’s left of heritage month by sampling some African cuisines at the House of Baobao, the Little Addis Café, or Pata Pata. It will be more than an African culinary experience; you’ll be immersed in sounds of East Africa, live African drumming, and bands at selected days, transporting your soul away from the city congestion to a heaven of rhythm.
If you chose to indulge in local flavors, you can go to the Sha’p chesa nyama on the sidewalk stand on Kruger street for braai-ed (barbecued) choice of meat or wors (world’s best beef sausage ever!) with local favorite side dishes like chakalaka available. Whatever your African persuasion, Maboneng is the best place to be.
After your meal, grab a drink at the Rooftop and enjoy stunning city views!
